What is Unturned?

Unturned is a free survival sandbox game by Smartly Dressed Games, the studio founded by Nelson Sexton. Players fight their way through a world overrun by zombies, scavenge equipment, secure food and water and build up their own base step by step. The deliberately blocky low-poly look hides a surprisingly deep survival system.

Looting, crafting, base building and vehicles are at the heart of the game. Gathered resources turn into weapons, tools, clothing and fortifications, vehicles can be repaired and refuelled, and farmland provides a steady supply. Depending on the server settings, the game ranges from a relaxed building experience to hard PvP.

Unturned ships with a number of official maps, among them Prince Edward Island, Washington, Yukon and Russia. On top of that comes a very active Steam Workshop connection: curated maps such as Elver, Carpat, Hawaii or Greece as well as countless mods with new weapons, vehicles and gameplay mechanics can be added directly to a server.

On your own server you decide how the game is played. Configuration files and console commands let you set the map, the difficulty, admin rights and access rules, and through the Workshop you equip your server with exactly the maps and mods your group wants to play. Mods configured on the server are downloaded automatically by players when they connect.

Unturned is especially popular among players looking for an easy entry into the survival genre together with friends and who want to customise their server freely. The game is available for free on PC via Steam.
