What is Don’t Starve Together?

Don’t Starve Together is the multiplayer version of the survival game Don’t Starve by Klei Entertainment. Together with other players you are dropped into a bleak, procedurally generated wilderness and have to survive there without instructions and without warning. The hand-drawn, Tim Burton inspired art style and the pitch-black humour give the game its distinctive character.

The three core values are hunger, health and sanity. You gather resources, craft tools, build a base and try to make it through the nights — because death lurks in the darkness. On top of that comes a season system: a mild autumn is followed by a bitterly cold winter, a rainy spring and a scorching summer, each with its own dangers and bosses.

Every player picks a character with individual strengths and weaknesses, from the scientist Wilson to the pyromaniac Willow to the mighty Wolfgang. Besides the overworld a second area can be unlocked: the caves with their ruins, where valuable materials but also particularly dangerous enemies await. On a server all participants play in the same world, share the base and the supplies — and the consequences of mistakes.

Don’t Starve Together is especially popular among players looking for demanding co-op survival with long-term base building and plenty of replay value. The Steam Workshop also offers a huge selection of mods that can be set up directly on the server. The game is available on PC via Steam.
