Romestead

What is Romestead?

Romestead is a pixel-art survival action RPG developed by Beartwigs and published by Three Friends. The game takes you into a fallen Roman Empire: civilisation has collapsed, the cities lie in ruins, and as soon as night falls the dead rise. Out of those ruins you build a new settlement.

At the core of the game are exploration, resource gathering, crafting and base building. Rocks, ores and logs are physical objects that you have to carry and process. A simple camp gradually turns into a settlement where recruited artisans work, fields are tended and supplies have to last through the nights.

On top of that come battles against hordes of undead and a progression system built around offerings to the Roman gods. The game world is procedurally generated and contains handcrafted dungeons and boss encounters that you seek out for rare rewards.

Romestead supports single-player as well as co-op with up to eight players – online or over LAN. Difficulty scales with the number of players. On a dedicated server your shared world stays available at all times, even when none of you has the game open.

Romestead launched into Early Access on 25 May 2026 and is available on PC via Steam.
