Longvinter
What is Longvinter?
Longvinter is an open world survival sandbox game by the Finnish studio Uuvana Studios. From a top-down perspective and in a colourful pixel art style you explore a remote island whose friendly first impression is deceiving: behind the calm surface hides a harsh survival game in which other players are both the biggest threat and the most valuable resource.
Exploration, gathering and trading are at the core of the game. You search buildings and hideouts for equipment, collect raw materials, store your loot in chests and set up tents as your own base. A large part of the game revolves around its economy: you trade with other players, buy and sell goods and slowly build up a fortune, while wandering traders offer additional opportunities.
How dangerous the island gets depends on the server. With PvP enabled you can be attacked and robbed by other players at any time – on a peaceful server the focus is on building and exploring together instead. Further rules such as tent decay, the maximum number of tents per player or how chests refill are up to you as the server owner.
Longvinter is built as a multiplayer game from the ground up. On your own server your island stays persistent even when nobody is online, and you keep full control over rules, player count and admin rights. The game first launched in Early Access, left it in February 2025 with version 1.0 and is available on PC via Steam.
