Terraria

What is Terraria?

Terraria is a two-dimensional sandbox adventure by the American developer Re-Logic. You start out with a pickaxe, a sword and an axe in a randomly generated world and dig, build and fight your way from the surface down into the deepest caves and beyond.

The core of the game is exploration, crafting and combat. From the resources you mine you craft better tools, weapons and armor, build houses for NPCs who then move in and trade with you, and prepare for the many boss fights. Every defeated boss changes the world and unlocks new materials and possibilities.

The world itself is fully destructible and malleable and is divided into different biomes – from forest, desert and jungle to the snow biome and the underworld. Defeating the Wall of Flesh starts Hardmode, which reshapes the world, introduces new enemies and opens up a considerably more demanding second half of the game.

On a shared server several players play in the same world, build together and take on bosses as a team. Dedicated servers are joined directly via the IP address – there is no in-game server browser for rented servers.

Mods are not supported in regular Terraria: for that there is tModLoader, a separate version of the game that requires its own server type. Terraria is available for PC via Steam, among others, as well as for consoles and mobile devices.
