What is Factorio?

Factorio is a construction and automation game by the Czech developer Wube Software. You are stranded on an alien planet and start out mining resources by hand. Step by step you replace every manual task with machinery, until a huge, fully automated factory spreads across half the planet.

The core of the game is built around transport belts, inserters, production chains and logistics. Ore is mined, smelted, turned into components and finally combined into ever more complex products. Players who plan their layouts well increase the throughput of their factory – those who don't end up fighting backed-up belts and bottlenecks that ripple through the entire production line.

The native biters react to the pollution your factory produces and attack your installations. Defense lines, weapon research and armor are therefore just as much part of the game as optimizing production. The main goal of the campaign is launching a rocket – with the Space Age expansion the journey continues in space.

Factorio supports multiplayer on a shared server where all players build on the same factory. On top of that there is an extensive official mod portal that allows you to add recipes, graphics, buildings and complete overhauls of the game. Factorio is available for PC, among others via Steam and the official website factorio.com.
