No More Room in Hell

What is No More Room in Hell?

No More Room in Hell is a cooperative survival horror shooter based on the Source Engine. Up to eight players fight their way together through a world overrun by the undead and try to survive with scarce ammunition, improvised weapons and no reliable rescue in sight.

The game consistently favours realism over action. There is no crosshair and no ammo counter, weapons have to be reloaded manually and magazines kept track of, and a single bite can cause an infection that turns the player into a zombie a short while later. Friendly fire is part of the game — careless shooting inside the team quickly turns deadly.

There are two modes: on objective maps (prefix nmo_) the team works through a chain of tasks towards an escape point. On survival maps (prefix nms_) the team holds out for as long as possible against increasingly heavy waves. The maps shipped with the game include nmo_broadway, nmo_chinatown and nms_northway.

On the server side No More Room in Hell is a classic Source game: configuration runs through the server.cfg, extensions run through Metamod:Source and SourceMod, and custom maps can be added as .bsp files. In-game admin rights are only available through SourceMod — in exchange the game ships its own VoteKick and VoteBan system that lets players deal with troublemakers even when no admin is present.

No More Room in Hell is especially popular among players looking for slow, tense co-op rounds with real resource pressure instead of fast-paced zombie action. The game is available for free on PC via Steam.
