What is Garry's Mod?

Garry's Mod (GMod for short) is a sandbox game by Facepunch Studios built on the Source Engine. Unlike traditional games there is no fixed goal and no scripted story — instead players are handed a toolbox and build, experiment and play with whatever they come up with.

At the heart of the game are the Physics Gun and the Tool Gun. With them you can grab, move, weld and hinge objects from the game world and assemble them into vehicles, machines or entire constructions. Some players spend hours building an elaborate contraption, others simply blow it all up again.

Most of the game's variety comes from the Steam Workshop. Lua scripting allows completely custom game modes, which is why there are countless community gamemodes alongside the default sandbox mode — from roleplay modes such as DarkRP to Trouble in Terrorist Town, Prop Hunt, deathrun, zombie and build-contest servers. On your own server you decide which gamemode runs, which map is loaded and which addons are delivered.

Garry's Mod is especially popular among players who like to build creatively, tinker with physics or try unusual game modes with friends. The game is available on PC via Steam.
