What is Barotrauma? ​

Barotrauma is a 2D submarine survival horror game developed by Finnish studio Undertow Games and published by Daedalic Entertainment. The game is set in the distant future on Jupiter's moon Europa, whose surface is icy and inhospitable. Humanity has retreated beneath the surface and traverses the dark oceans in submarines.

Players take on various roles aboard a submarine, including captain, engineer, mechanic, medic or security officer. Together, the crew must navigate the submarine through dangerous waters while defending against hostile creatures, pirates, parasites and even traitors within their own ranks.

The game simulates numerous systems within the submarine, including oxygen supply, power grids, weapons and hull integrity. Damage from attacks or accidents can cause leaks that must be repaired immediately to prevent water from flooding the vessel.

Barotrauma offers both singleplayer and multiplayer modes. In campaign mode, players work together to reach the mysterious Eye of Europa. Additional game modes include ship-to-ship combat and a sandbox mode with no set objective.

The game is particularly popular with players who appreciate cooperative survival horror, complex game mechanics and a unique sci-fi atmosphere. Barotrauma is available on PC via Steam.
